About The Position

The Staff Research Scientist will work in a highly productive and collaborative research environment. Projects will generally focus on gene regulatory (epigenetic) mechanisms activated by early-life experiences, including stress and exercise, that influence brain development and function throughout the lifespan. The incumbent will apply knowledge of cellular and molecular biology, large-dataset data pipelines, stress neurobiology, and developmental neuroscience; conduct research with a high degree of independence; participate in experimental design; analyze data; and contribute to scientific manuscripts and grant proposals.

Requirements

  • Must have portfolio of at least five (5) publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Master’s degree in physics, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline is required.
  • Five years of experience in a research setting required.
  • Previous supervisory/management experience, particularly supervising graduate students and lab personnel, required.
  • Experience in molecular biology techniques such as cloning, RT-qPCR, CRISPR, CUT&RUN/CUT&Tag, Western blotting, and work with animal models.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD in physics, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform experiments, analyze data, formulate conclusions, and create appropriate statistical visualizations, including graphs and charts, to report research and laboratory results.
  • Independently process scientific data and develop and deliver presentations of research findings.
  • Independently advance research projects, contribute original ideas, and collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary research environment.
  • Educate, train, and supervise new students and other research staff who assist with projects.
  • Meet regularly with the Principal Investigator (PI) and colleagues to review laboratory data, troubleshoot problems, prioritize tasks, and discuss newly published scientific literature relevant to the field.
