About The Position

Energy Pellets of America is currently hiring for a Working Supervisor / Pellet Mill Equipment Operator. Jumpstart your career and expand your professional portfolio at Energy Pellets of America. This role involves managing 2nd shift employees, including their work schedules, task assignments, and performance monitoring, while also serving as a Pellet Mill Operator responsible for running and maintaining equipment such as the pellet mill, bagging machine, and shrink wrap equipment. Successful candidates must have a strong work ethic, good attendance, and the ability to work well in a team.

Requirements

  • Machine operating experience
  • Computer experience
  • Previous forklift experience
  • Ability to read and count
  • Ability to communicate with the manufacturer of the equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 75lbs
  • Ability to stand on concrete for extended periods of time
  • Able to read a micrometer
  • Must be able to bend, lift and stoop without difficulty
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and strong ability to multitask
  • Must be able to work flexible hours.
  • Previous supervisor experience

Responsibilities

  • Managing 2nd shift employees work schedules, assigning tasks and duties, managing when and how tasks are performed, and planning work schedules.
  • Guiding employees through daily work activities.
  • Monitoring employee performance to ensure maximum productivity.
  • Relaying information between employees and upper management.
  • Running the pellet mill, bagging machine, and shrink wrap equipment.
  • Maintaining and cleaning the equipment as needed.
  • Performing all field functions related to the start-up and operation of all process and packaging equipment.
  • Cleaning and maintaining mills.
  • Setting Rolls.
  • Watching and listening for unusual sights (smoke, steam etc.) and sounds (loud rumble etc.) once mills are started.
  • Checking pellets at the mills and coolers for length, color, durability, and moisture.
  • Keeping the mill & cooler area clean.
  • Cleaning the bagging system.
  • Starting the bagger with correct bags.
  • Starting the palletizer, robot, and wrapper.
  • Resetting counters on the bagger and wrapper.
  • Ensuring the scale is set to the correct weight for bag size.
  • Ensuring the robot count (layer and bag) is correct.
  • Checking seals on bags at the bagger and wrapper.
  • Conducting quality control tests for pellet product.
  • Making plant adjustments for improving plant production and/or product quality.
  • Using forklifts and material handling equipment.
  • Assisting during periods of maintenance downtime.
  • Ensuring all products are shipped or stored properly and counted accurately.
  • Maintaining a safe, neat, orderly accident-free work environment, including all warehouse work areas, aisles, trucks, etc.
  • Working independently and with a team.
