About The Position

The Research Associate (Single Cell Transcriptomics) will be responsible for designing, planning, and executing experiments using the single-cell RNA sequencing pipeline. This includes sample preparation, capture, next-generation sequencing (NGS) library preparation, and quality control (QC) with high precision. The role involves preparing samples for NGS and other applications, conducting cell sorting experiments, and optimizing workflows. The associate will also manage sample and reagent inventory, maintain experimental records, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Data analysis, interpretation, and presentation of results are key components, along with supporting other discovery projects involving human neuronal cell culture and cell-based assays.

Requirements

  • BS or MS degree in Biology, Molecular/Cell Biology or related field
  • Experience with single cell NGS sample prep workflow (cell capture using microfluidics, cDNA and library preparation, QC and sequencing)
  • Experience with flow cytometry and fluorescence activated and/or magnetic cell sorting (FACS/MACS)
  • Familiarity with DNA/RNA library QC techniques (Tapestation, Bioanalyzer, Qubit, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of standard molecular biology techniques (PCR, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA/RNA extraction)
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Willingness to perform repetitive tasks with high accuracy and superb attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn and expand skill set and contribute to emerging needs in a highly dynamic start-up environment
  • Ability to multitask while working within fast-paced timelines
  • High integrity, excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong team player and problem-solver, able to work on teams and independently

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of relevant hands on laboratory experience in academia or industry
  • Familiarity with single-cell RNA sequencing data analysis
  • Familiarity with histochemical techniques and basic microscopy
  • Experience with sterile human stem cell and neuronal cell culture
  • Basic knowledge of stem cell biology and neurodevelopmental biology

Responsibilities

  • Design, plan and execute experiments using single cell RNA sequencing pipeline from sample preparation and capture to NGS sequencing library preparation and QC with high precision
  • Prepare single cell and single nuclei samples for next-generation sequencing (NGS) and other applications
  • Conduct fluorescence and/or magnetic-activated cell sorting experiments
  • Help optimize and improve workflow, and streamline processes
  • Collect, organize, and manage sample inventory
  • Organize and maintain detailed experimental records in accordance with industry standards
  • Manage reagent inventory and equipment calibration/maintenance
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and colleagues
  • Analyze data, interpret and present results at team meetings
