About The Position

The Bonda Lab, led by Principal Investigator David Bonda, MD, in the Department of Neurosurgery at Cedars-Sinai, is seeking a Research Associate I. This role is part of a team investigating the single neuron and network-level dynamics governing volitional control over reflexive and higher order behavior. Cedars-Sinai is a leading institute for research funding from the National Institutes of Health, focusing on medical advancements and scientific breakthroughs. The Research Associate I will perform routine experimental protocols and procedures under direct supervision to support laboratory research objectives. This position does not involve supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences or related field is required.
  • Research laboratory experience is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of database management, personal computers, and presentation and imaging software.
  • Excellent digital literacy, including ability to program in MATLAB or Python.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of routine experimental protocols and procedures.
  • Assist in general laboratory activities, including maintenance of reagents and stocking of supplies.
  • File and monitor documents.
  • Keep accurate and detailed records of experiments and results.
  • Perform routine cellular, micro- and molecular biology procedures including, but not limited to Western, Northern blot, DNA/RNA, PCR, protein extraction, cell culture, Immunohistochemistry, and staining.
  • Assist in identifying and troubleshooting unexpected results.
  • Order laboratory supplies and support laboratory operations.
  • Maintain lab equipment and related records and may coordinate use of lab equipment.
  • Assist in the operation of specialized equipment.
  • Orient research laboratory assistants or lower level research associates and undergraduate student researchers on day-to-day lab operations and routine procedures.
  • Observe and follow safety standards and procedures.
