About The Position

Cedars-Sinai offers scientists unparalleled access to ground breaking technologies, facilities, and resources for conducting research related to an impressive range of diseases and disorders, from cancer, cardiology, and digestive diseases, to genetics, genomics, neurosciences, and women's health. The Principal Investigator, Peter Heeger, MD, is looking for a Research Associate I to join the team! Dr. Heeger leads a translational research group focused on understanding how to improve the outcomes of patients receiving transplanted organs. While kidney, heart, liver and lung transplantation is commonly performed and is lifesaving, the long term outcomes of transplant recipients remains suboptimal. The Research Associate I will perform a variety of routine experimental protocols and procedures to support the objectives of one or more laboratory research projects in a specific area of research.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science related field, required.
  • Research laboratory experience is preferred.
  • Experience with tissue culture, animal handling, and molecular biology is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of database management, personal computers, and presentation and imaging software.
  • Must possess digital literacy in Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine cellular, molecular biology procedures including, but not limited to Western, Northern blot, DNA/RNA, PCR, protein extraction, cell culture, flow cytometry, Immunohistochemistry, and staining.
  • Assist in general laboratory activities, including maintenance of reagents and stocking of supplies, and filing and monitoring of documents.
  • Keep accurate and detailed records of experiments and results.
  • Assist in the operation of specialized equipment and machinery.
  • Observe safety standards and procedures.
  • May assist with animal husbandry.
  • Maintain lab equipment and related records.
  • Transport, process, and log samples.
  • Maintain computer database with relevant clinical information.
  • Perform lab maintenance duties, including glassware cleaning and sterilization.
  • Maintain stocks of general lab materials, and place orders for equipment and supplies.
  • Assist new students and fellows at the laboratory.
