About The Position

Cedars-Sinai is seeking a Research Associate I to join the Heeger Lab within the Department of Medicine. This role will support translational research focused on improving outcomes for transplant recipients. The Research Associate I will perform a variety of routine experimental protocols and procedures, including cellular and molecular biology techniques such as Western, Northern blot, DNA/RNA, PCR, protein extraction, cell culture, flow cytometry, Immunohistochemistry, and staining. The position also involves assisting with general laboratory activities, maintaining reagents and supplies, and ensuring accurate record-keeping of experiments and results. The role requires adherence to safety standards and procedures and does not involve supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Perform routine cellular, molecular biology procedures including, but not limited to Western, Northern blot, DNA/RNA, PCR, protein extraction, cell culture, flow cytometry, Immunohistochemistry, and staining.
  • Assist in general laboratory activities, including maintenance of reagents and stocking of supplies, and filing and monitoring of documents.
  • Keeps accurate and detailed records of experiments and results.
  • Assists in the operation of specialized equipment and machinery.
  • Observes safety standards and procedures.
  • Does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine experimental protocols and procedures.
  • Conduct cellular and molecular biology procedures including Western, Northern blot, DNA/RNA, PCR, protein extraction, cell culture, flow cytometry, Immunohistochemistry, and staining.
  • Assist in general laboratory activities.
  • Maintain reagents and stocking of supplies.
  • File and monitor documents.
  • Keep accurate and detailed records of experiments and results.
  • Assist in the operation of specialized equipment and machinery.
  • Observe safety standards and procedures.
  • Assist with animal husbandry.
  • Maintain lab equipment and related records.
  • Transport, process, and log samples.
  • Maintain computer database with relevant clinical information.
  • Perform lab maintenance duties, including glassware cleaning and sterilization.
  • Maintain stocks of general lab materials, and place orders for equipment and supplies.
  • Assist new students and fellows at the laboratory.
