About The Position

The University of Miami’s College of Arts and Sciences is hiring a temporary, part-time Research Associate 1 in Coral Gables, Florida. The role supports research activities in the assigned division by conducting laboratory experiments on assigned research projects. The incumbent is expected to advance their expertise through continued education, training, and research. The position involves interpreting research protocols, handling and analyzing specimens or tissue cultures, conducting routine assays and studies, maintaining laboratory equipment, and analyzing research results. The role also contributes to research publications, keeps current with relevant research, and ensures work follows good research practices and University policies.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
No previous experience required.
Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to a team environment.
Proficiency with office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Understand and interpret research protocols and procedures.
Participate in the publication of significant results.
Maintain an overview of relevant research findings.
Ensure research is conducted according to good research practice.
Keep abreast of current publications related to methods, techniques, and developments in the research area.
Collect, prepare, analyze, dissect, and evaluate specimens or tissue cultures.
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
Perform routine assays, tests, and studies.
Perform calculations to complete research test results, collect data, and conduct statistical analysis of laboratory results.
Follow University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
Perform other duties or responsibilities as necessary.
