The Oregon Department of Revenue is hiring a detail-oriented Research Assistant for its Research Section. The position is headquartered in Salem, Oregon, and may be eligible for in-state hybrid work, with onsite work required once a week or as business needs dictate. Applicants must reside in Oregon, except current Department of Revenue employees who live outside the state may apply. The Research Assistant coordinates the section’s responses to surveys, formal information requests, and recurring data reports. The role also coordinates information exchange with counties for annual property tax data collection, including providing templates and instructions, tracking submissions, and following up on unresolved data issues. The position edits, proofs, formats, and prepares annual publications and other research reports for printing and distribution, including integrating text and graphics and performing accessibility remediation with Microsoft Office and Adobe products. The minimum qualifications can be met through two years of secretarial or basic administrative support experience involving records processing, document generation, and gathering and sorting data; an associate degree in general office occupations plus one year of such experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Desired attributes include collaborative work, comfort with Excel and data, willingness to learn new tasks, managing concurrent short- and long-term work, accountability, and flexibility. This is a SEIU-represented position, and the recruitment may be used to fill additional vacancies. Employment is contingent on passing a criminal background and fingerprinting check and complying with Oregon income tax laws. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States; applicants requiring visa sponsorship will not be considered.
