About The Position

Carnegie Mellon University's Computer Science Department (CSD) is seeking a Research Assistant to support research projects related to software development for CMU CS Academy. The primary focus will be reimplementing Desktop CMU Graphics using Rust for improved user installation and easier maintenance by CS Academy. This role will also involve additional testing and bug fixing as needed. The CSD environment is demanding, fast-paced, innovative, flexible, and highly collaborative, with a distinctive research style, educational programs, and a commitment to diversity.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Previous research experience preferred.
  • A combination of education and proven experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Works with project PI to collect, record and assess research data.
  • May write and test code according to project specifications.
  • Assesses data and analyzes results.
  • Attends meetings and participates in various seminars/training classes as needed.
  • Prepares reports and other dissemination and outreach materials.
  • Other duties as required.
