Reporting to the Principal Investigator (PI), and under the direction of the Research Manager, the Research Assistant contributes to the research study by assisting with recruitment, administration of tests and interviews, collection of biological samples, data collection, study administration, by providing administrative support and entering study data. FORBOW aims to identify risk in youth at an early stage, when pre-emptive interventions may prevent the development of mental illness. FORBOW involves children and youth (age 1 - 24 years) and their parents, some of whom are living with mental illness (depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia). This challenging position offers opportunities for training, and professional growth.

Requirements

  • Grade 12
  • Effective communication, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Well developed organizational, time management and daily planning skills
  • Ability to work well independently as well as within a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Ability to deal with a wide variety of people in a professional manner

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor or Masters Degree in a relevant discipline (Psychology, Science) preferred
  • Previous experience in a health care or clinical research is an asset
  • Experience working with children and youth
  • Experience with mental illness an asset
  • Knowledge of diagnostic criteria for mental and behavioral disorders is an asset
  • Experience with cognitive testing an asset
  • Competencies in multiple languages an asset, French preferred
