About The Position

The University of Virginia School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Scientist position to work in the lab of Dr. Lian-Wang Guo, Department of Surgery, with a focus on vascular epigenetics. The successful candidate will design and conduct independent and collaborative research in vascular biology, with an emphasis on epigenetic mechanisms underlying vascular wall remodeling and disease, lead and contribute to the preparation of peer-reviewed publications, participate in grant applications, and supervise and train graduate and undergraduate students, and ensure compliance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements for laboratory research.

Requirements

  • PhD, MD, or equivalent doctoral degree in biomedical sciences or master’s degree with significant experience

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated expertise in molecular and cellular biology techniques, including CRISPR-based epigenetic and genome editing, CUT&Tag, scRNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, ChIP, proximity ligation, and microscopy
  • Demonstrated experiences in cell signaling, epigenetic regulations, physiology and vascular diseases
  • Demonstrated skills in rodent microsurgery
  • Records of working independently and collaboratively with strong publications
