About The Position

The summer research assistant will perform tasks such as preparing tissue, sediment, and water samples for stable isotope characterization of two Virginia cave and spring systems. Work involves drying, lipid extracting, and weighing samples plus data analysis. Work may also involve fieldwork to help collect samples. This position is available only to enrolled American University students. Most student positions at American University are eligible to use Federal Work Study (FWS) awards, with a few exceptions. FWS funds cannot be applied to janitorial, construction, partisan or sectarian positions. Requirements

  • Must be an enrolled American University student.
  • Ability to prepare tissue, sediment, and water samples.
  • Proficiency in drying, lipid extracting, and weighing samples.
  • Skills in data analysis.
