UTHealth Houston's School of Dentistry is seeking a full-time Research Assistant (RA) I or II to join their team of professionals. The RA will conduct research experiments as part of the NIH-R56 grant project. The lab is interested in understanding the regulation of cell fate during early embryonic development, with a focus on craniofacial bone and cartilage structures, and how genetic alterations can lead to birth defects. We seek to uncover the mechanism underlying the epithelial-mesenchymal transition and facial symmetry during craniofacial development. We use mice, human cell lines, and ex vivo organ culture to understand the genetic wiring of the orofacial system. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining the mouse colony, cultivating human cell lines, and treating them with reagents to stimulate gene expression or induce gene knockdown. This position is funded by grants that comprise 100% of the funding. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon the availability of funding for this position. Your employment may end upon the discontinuation of the project or funding.
