About The Position

This intern program is to develop a 20 kWe space nuclear reactor for nuclear electric propulsion. The intern student will learn the space nuclear reactor concept and reduce the current 20 MW Heat-Pipe Micro-Reactor model to a 20 kWe reactor, suited for space application. The intern student will aim to develop the reactor optimizing the reactor mass and cost.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies at an accredited institution.
  • Graduated from an accredited institution within the past 3 months.
  • Actively enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited institution.
  • Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins.
  • Must possess a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Must pass a screening drug test.
  • Must complete a satisfactory background check.
  • The entirety of the appointment must be conducted within the United States.
