Leandro is a PhD student at the University of Michigan working under Dr. Milos Burger. Dr. Burger is working with Teddy Kent at Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) collaborating on a Nuclear Energy University Program (NEUP) project. This project aims to develop a laser based impurity measurement system for liquid sodium systems, in support of sodium fast reactor research. The first two years of the project was primarily conducted at the university where the laser system was developed and demonstrated on a laboratory scale. The final year task is to implement the system at an industrial scale facility, and the intent is to do this at the Mechanisms Engineering Test Loop (METL) at ANL. Leandro would be brought on as a Visiting Student to take training at the lab needed to operate the laser at the METL facility.
