About The Position

This Co-Op position is part of the Aftermarket and Sustainment Engineering team, focusing on Repair Design. The role involves learning to design repair processes, interpret technical documentation, and identify part distress to select appropriate repair methods. The Co-Op will research component functionality, collaborate on prototyping new repairs, create technical documents for engineering requirements, and support investigations of engine field incidents. The position is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days onsite in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, and 2 days remote. The Co-Op session runs from January to June, and students are expected to take this time off from coursework to fully engage in the mentorship opportunity. RTX is a leading aerospace and defense company focused on solving complex global problems.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a degree program in Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.
  • Must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment.

Responsibilities

  • Research operating environments and functionality of components, interactions with mating parts and other design factors.
  • Collaborate with other Repair Development Engineers (RDE) in the prototyping of new repairs, Source Demonstration, engage with audits as needed, and develop strategies which will return damaged parts back to service.
  • Create technical documents that provide engineering requirements for repairs and provide routine status report to customer and management thru various channels.
  • Supports investigations of engine field incidents leading to root cause and corrective actions & support in the develop of serviceable and repairable limits for engine part wear.
  • Participates as an active member in cross-discipline integrated product teams to provide design solutions that balance performance, cost, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Communicate in English (read, write, speak) when interacting with customers, co-workers, or supervisors who only speak English.
