About The Position

The Rental Technician I provides high-quality equipment repair service to respond to customer needs positively, carefully, and promptly, while ensuring maximum value for the work performed. The role completes assigned repair tasks within Caterpillar Equipment Repair Labor Guidelines without compromising quality or safety, and performs equipment and component repair work with minimal supervision. This is a safety-sensitive position and requires up to 10% travel.

Requirements

Specific Caterpillar product-line knowledge of natural gas engines and electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems and components, including Preventative Maintenance Services.
Basic knowledge of gas/diesel engines and EPG systems and troubleshooting.
Proficiency with basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments, laptops, diagnostic software, and cranes and rigging equipment.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
1–3 years of related experience.
Successfully complete the Work Steps assessment.
Obtain certification before operating a forklift and/or man lift.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s degree or certificate in diesel technology or a similar mechanical discipline.

Responsibilities

Complete assigned jobs and tasks within Caterpillar Equipment Repair Labor Guidelines without sacrificing quality or safety.
Work safely and follow all WCAT safety policies and procedures.
Complete related paperwork and access required databases accurately and promptly, including work orders, parts orders, JSA, DBS, SIMS, SIS web, and STW.
Follow contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
Remove and install parts; disassemble and assemble components; and clean and inspect assemblies with minimal supervision.
Understand and apply Caterpillar reusability guidelines.
Submit parts and core returns promptly with appropriate documentation.
Perform warranty downloads of ECM.
Provide accurate quotes.
