About The Position

H.O. Penn Machinery is seeking a motivated and achievement-driven Rental Sales Representative for their location in Newington, CT. This outside sales position focuses on promoting the profitable rental of construction equipment within an assigned territory. The role involves identifying and contacting new and existing customers, providing high-quality coverage, and developing new accounts. Sales representatives will utilize various selling tools, including telephone, computer, and software, to promote the features and benefits of Caterpillar and allied equipment. Collaboration with Inside Sales Reps and Rental Coordinators is essential for processing orders and addressing customer concerns. The position also requires managing and developing the assigned sales territory, maintaining accurate customer data, and staying informed about the construction industry and competitive activity. A key aspect of the role is to become an integral part of the customer's business, represent their needs to H.O. Penn, and seek solutions. Continuous development of product/industry knowledge and business acumen is expected.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of equipment rental business highly preferred
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, (both written and oral)
  • Ability to prospect and cultivate new accounts
  • PC Proficient, (including high proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office and other software)
  • Excellent influencing skills & economically motivated
  • Must have a valid driver’s license for travel

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the achievement of overall corporate goals by promoting the profitable rental of H O Penn equipment in the assigned sales territory.
  • Continually identify and contact new and existing customers in the assigned territory to influence their buying and rental decision making consistent with HO Penn's business goals.
  • Provide high quality and cost-effective coverage of the assigned territory, including servicing of existing accounts and developing new accounts within the various market segments represented in the territory.
  • Effectively use all selling tools, including the telephone, computer, software, wireless communications and other means to promote the features, benefits and overall value of Caterpillar and allied equipment and the total product and service offerings at H O Penn.
  • Work collaboratively with other sales team members, including Inside Sales Reps and Rental Coordinators, to accurately and efficiently process rental orders, address customer concerns and maximize rental and sales business and growth.
  • Effectively and efficiently manage and develop the assigned sales territory to contribute to the achievement of company goals.
  • Work cooperatively with other Rental Reps, as well as General Line Sales Reps, to maximize geographic sales coverage.
  • Maintain accurate data on the activities of customers within the territory and communicate all relevant information to other members of the H O Penn sales team.
  • Maximize H O Penn's share of the total rental business of each existing customer.
  • Develop, maintain and communicate a comprehensive awareness of the state of the construction industry as well as all competitive activity within the territory effectively utilizing Dodge and other marketing reports and data.
  • Effectively and efficiently contribute to the quality of the customer's experience with H O Penn.
  • Become an integral part of the customer's business, represent the customer's need to H O Penn and seek solutions consistent with H O Penn's mission and goals.
  • Work closely with other members of H O Penn's team to maximize customer service.
  • Continuously develop product/industry knowledge and business acumen.
