About The Position

SAIC is seeking Full-time Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) candidates to join the Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team at the Philadelphia ATCT (PHL) in Philadelphia, PA. This role supports air traffic controller training services for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The RPO simulates the actions and communication of pilots and remote ATC facilities within an air traffic control training simulator. This involves operating a simulated radar display and voice communication system during training exercises. RPOs will receive voice commands from students, input simulated pilot actions into the automated system, translate displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology, and respond to students using proper phraseology via the voice communication system. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is crucial for ensuring a high level of safety and professionalism in air traffic control, employing over 14,000 specialists who manage aircraft separation daily. To meet training needs, the FAA utilizes contractor-provided instructional services across its facilities, covering all types and levels of ATC training. Requirements

  • Must complete Classrom certification (pass test on airspace and procedures).
  • Must complete Lab certification (perform as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions).

Responsibilities

  • Operate a simulated radar display and voice communication system to simulate pilot actions and communication of remote ATC facilities during training exercises.
  • Receive voice commands from students.
  • Input proper entries into the automated system to simulate pilot actions.
  • Translate displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology.
  • Respond to students via the voice communication system utilizing proper phraseology.
