About The Position

SAIC is seeking Full-time Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) candidates to join the Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team at the Phoenix TRACON (P50) in Phoenix, AZ. This role supports air traffic controller training services for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The RPO simulates the actions and communication of pilots and remote ATC facilities within an air traffic controller training simulator. This involves operating a simulated radar display and voice communication system to respond to student commands, input simulated pilot actions, and communicate using proper ATC phraseology. The position requires the candidate to complete specific certifications, including a classroom test on airspace and procedures and a lab performance evaluation as a Remote Pilot Operator. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is crucial for ensuring public safety and professionalism in air traffic control, employing over 14,000 controllers who manage aircraft separation daily. Requirements

  • Must be able to complete Classrom certification (pass test on airspace and procedures).
  • Must be able to complete Lab certification (perform as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions).

Responsibilities

  • Operate a combination of a simulated radar display and voice communication system to simulate the actions and communication of pilots and remote ATC facilities during medium and high-fidelity training exercises.
  • Receive voice commands from students.
  • Input proper entries into the automated system to simulate pilot actions.
  • Translate displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology.
  • Respond to the student via the VCS utilizing proper phraseology.
