About The Position

SAIC is seeking Full-time, Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) candidates to join the Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team at the Miami ATCT (MIA) in Miami, FL, supporting air traffic controller training services for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The RPO simulates the actions and communication of pilots and remote ATC facilities in an Air Traffic Controller training simulator. This role involves operating a simulated radar display and voice communication system, receiving voice commands from students, inputting entries to simulate pilot actions, translating displayed information into ATC terminology, and responding to students using proper phraseology. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is responsible for ensuring a high level of safety and professionalism in air traffic control services, and a well-trained workforce is essential. The FAA employs over 14,000 air traffic controllers who manage the separation of over 50,000 aircraft daily in the National Airspace System (NAS). To meet training needs, the FAA utilizes contractor-provided instructional services across the U.S. and its territories, covering all types and levels of ATC facilities. Requirements

  • Must be able to complete Classrom certification (pass test on airspace and procedures).
  • Must be able to complete Lab certification (perform as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions).

Responsibilities

  • Operate a combination of a simulated radar display and voice communication system to simulate the actions and communication of pilots and remote ATC facilities during medium and high-fidelity training exercises.
  • Receive voice commands from students.
  • Input proper entries into the automated system to simulate pilot actions.
  • Translate displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology.
  • Respond to the student via the VCS utilizing proper phraseology.
  • Complete Classrom certification (pass test on airspace and procedures).
  • Complete Lab certification (perform as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions).
