ATC Tower Remote Pilot Operator
About The Position
SAIC is seeking Full-time Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) candidates to join their Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team at the Atlanta Regional Office. This role supports air traffic controller Tower Initial Qualification training for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The RPO simulates the actions and communication of pilots and other ATC facilities within an air traffic control training simulator. This involves operating a simulated radar display and voice communication system, receiving voice commands from students, inputting simulated pilot actions into the automated system, translating displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology, and responding to students using proper phraseology.
Requirements
- Must be able to complete Classrom certification (pass test on airspace and procedures).
- Must be able to complete Lab certification (perform as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions).
Responsibilities
- Operate a combination of a simulated radar display and voice communication system to simulate the actions and communication of pilots and remote ATC facilities during medium and high-fidelity training exercises.
- Receive voice commands from students.
- Input proper entries into the automated system to simulate pilot actions.
- Translate displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology.
- Respond to the student via the VCS utilizing proper phraseology.
- Complete Classrom certification (pass test on airspace and procedures).
- Complete Lab certification (perform as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions).
