About The Position

SAIC is seeking Full-time Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) candidates to join the Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team at the New York ARTCC (ZNY) in Ronkonkoma, NY. This role supports air traffic controller training services for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The RPO simulates the actions and communication of pilots and other controllers within an air traffic control training simulator. This involves operating a simulated radar display and voice communication system to replicate pilot actions and communications with remote ATC facilities during training exercises. RPOs will receive voice commands from students, input data into the automated system to simulate pilot actions, translate displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology, and respond to students using proper phraseology. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is dedicated to ensuring a high level of safety and professionalism in air traffic control services. A well-trained Air Traffic Control (ATC) workforce is crucial for this mission. The FAA employs over 14,000 air traffic controllers who manage the separation of over 50,000 aircraft daily in the National Airspace System (NAS). To meet training needs, the FAA provides recurrent training for current specialists and trains new air traffic control specialists. Contractor-provided instructional services are utilized at FAA ATC facilities across the U.S. and its territories to fulfill these training requirements. SAIC's role is to provide comprehensive training and support services necessary to prepare students to become fully certified air traffic controllers, covering all types and levels of ATC facilities.

Requirements

  • Must be a Full-time Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) candidate.
  • Must be able to complete Classrom certification (pass test on airspace and procedures).
  • Must be able to complete Lab certification (perform as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions).

Responsibilities

  • Operate a simulated radar display and voice communication system to simulate the actions and communication of pilots and remote ATC facilities during medium and high-fidelity training exercises.
  • Receive voice commands from students.
  • Input proper entries into the automated system to simulate pilot actions.
  • Translate displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology.
  • Respond to the student via the VCS utilizing proper phraseology.
  • Complete required certifications: Classroom (pass test on airspace and procedures) and Lab (perform as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions).
