About The Position

SAIC is seeking Full-time Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) candidates to join the Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team at the New York TRACON (N90) in Westbury, NY. This role supports air traffic controller training services for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The RPO simulates the actions and communication of pilots and remote ATC facilities in an air traffic control training simulator. This involves operating a simulated radar display and voice communication system, responding to student voice commands, inputting data into the automated system, and communicating with students using proper ATC phraseology. The position requires the candidate to pass both a classroom certification (airspace and procedures test) and a lab certification (performing as an RPO on all positions). The FAA is responsible for air traffic safety and professionalism, relying on a well-trained ATC workforce. SAIC provides contractor-provided instructional services to meet the FAA's training needs for new and current air traffic controllers across various facilities.

Requirements

• Must be able to complete required certifications: Classroom (pass test on airspace and procedures) and Lab (perform as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions).

Responsibilities

• Operate a simulated radar display and voice communication system to simulate the actions and communication of pilots and remote ATC facilities during medium and high-fidelity training exercises.
• Receive voice commands from students.
• Input proper entries into the automated system to simulate pilot actions.
• Translate displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology.
• Respond to the student via the VCS utilizing proper phraseology.
• Complete required certifications: Classroom (pass test on airspace and procedures) and Lab (perform as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions).
