About The Position

The Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) supports SAIC Controller Training Solutions (CTS) at the Birmingham International ATCT/TRACON in Birmingham, Alabama, providing air traffic controller training services for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This is not a UAS, UAV, RPV, or drone pilot position. The RPO acts as pilots and other controllers in an air traffic control training simulator, operating simulated radar displays and voice communication systems during medium- and high-fidelity exercises. Candidates must complete classroom certification, including passing a test on airspace and procedures, and lab certification demonstrating performance as an RPO on all positions. The work supports FAA training of new and current air traffic control specialists.
