About The Position

Petco Veterinary Services is hiring relief veterinarians to work in Vetco Vaccination Clinics and Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospitals. Relief veterinarians can use flexible online scheduling to choose shifts, with no minimum or maximum number of shifts required. Weekday and weekend hours are available, and veterinarians set their own rate for each shift. They may continue practice activities outside Petco shifts, with no agency fees.

The appointment-based model helps manage patient flow and supports on-time departures. Trained, experienced staff handle clinic operations so veterinarians can focus on patient care. Vetco Vaccination Clinics provide basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement; they do not provide surgery, emergency, or illness care. Vetco Total Care hospitals offer preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. These hospitals have digital dental X-rays, Butterfly IQ+ Vet ultrasound imaging, and equipped surgery suites. Hospital staff are licensed and trained, and relief shifts do not involve overnight or emergency on-call work.

Petco offers veterinarians a 15% discount on its products and services. The role requires a veterinary degree and appropriate state licensing, with additional requirements for full-service hospital shifts.

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine state license in good standing.
• Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all shift functions, including the ability to perform blood draws and administer vaccines.
• Professional Liability Insurance and a license defense policy.
• Compliance with all local, state, and federal mandates.
• A DEA registration in good standing is required for relief shifts at full-service Vetco Total Care hospitals.

Responsibilities
