Petco Veterinary Services offers relief veterinarians shifts in two settings: Vetco Vaccination Clinics and Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospitals. Veterinarians can use flexible online scheduling to select shifts that suit their needs, with no minimum or maximum shift requirement and weekday and weekend options. Veterinarians set their own rate for each shift, may continue practicing outside Petco shifts, and do not pay agency fees. The appointment-based model helps manage patient flow and supports leaving on time. Trained staff handle clinic operations so veterinarians can focus on patient care. Petco provides monthly updates about clinic news, policies, and products, and relief veterinarians receive a 15% discount on Petco products and services. Vetco Vaccination Clinics provide basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement; they do not provide surgery, emergency, or illness care. Most are located in Petco stores, with some operating from mobile van units. Vetco Total Care hospitals provide preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. Hospital equipment includes digital dental X-rays, Butterfly IQ+ Vet ultrasound imaging, and surgery suites with heated hydraulic tables and anesthesia monitoring. Hospital shifts do not include overnight or emergency on-call duties. Washington state bid rates average $122.00–$153.00 per hour. Shift rates may vary based on clinic location and selected shift duration.
