Petco Veterinary Services offers relief veterinarians work in Vetco Vaccination Clinics and Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospitals. Relief veterinarians can use flexible online scheduling to choose shifts that suit their lifestyle. There is no minimum or maximum number of shifts, and weekday and weekend hours are available. Veterinarians set their own rate for each shift, may continue practice activities outside Petco shifts, and pay no agency fees. The appointment-based model helps manage patient flow and supports leaving on time. Trained, experienced staff handle clinic operations so veterinarians can focus on patient care. Petco provides a monthly newsletter with clinic news, policy updates, and product announcements, as well as a 15% discount on Petco products and services. Vetco Vaccination Clinics provide basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement. They do not provide surgery, emergency care, or illness care. Most are located inside Petco stores, with some operating in mobile van units. Vetco Total Care hospitals provide preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. Hospital equipment includes digital dental X-rays, Butterfly IQ+ Vet ultrasound imaging, and surgery suites with heated hydraulic surgery tables and full anesthesia monitoring. There are no overnight or emergency on-call shifts. Washington state bid rates average $122.00–$153.00 per hour. Shift rates may vary based on clinic location and shift duration.
