Petco Veterinary Services offers relief veterinarians work in two settings: Vetco Vaccination Clinics and Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospitals. Relief veterinarians can use flexible online scheduling to choose shifts, with no minimum or maximum shift requirement and weekday and weekend hours available. Veterinarians set their own rate for each shift, may continue practice activities outside Petco shifts, and do not pay agency fees. The appointment-based model helps manage patient flow and supports leaving on time. Trained, experienced staff handle operations so veterinarians can focus on patient care. Veterinarians receive a monthly newsletter with clinic news, policy updates, and product announcements, as well as a 15% discount on Petco products and services. Vetco Vaccination Clinics provide basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement. They do not provide surgery, emergency, or illness care. Most are located inside Petco stores, with some operating from mobile van units. Vetco Total Care hospitals provide preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. Their equipment includes digital dental X-rays, Butterfly IQ+ Vet ultrasound imaging, and surgery suites with heated hydraulic tables and full anesthesia monitoring. Hospital shifts do not include overnight or emergency on-call work. Washington state bid rates average $122.00–$153.00 per hour. Shift rates may vary by clinic location and shift duration.
