Petco Veterinary Services relief veterinarians can work in Vetco Vaccination Clinics or Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospitals. The role offers flexible online scheduling with weekday and weekend shifts, no minimum or maximum shift requirement, and the ability to set a rate for each shift. Veterinarians may continue practice activities outside Petco shifts, with no agency fees. An appointment-based model helps manage patient flow and supports timely departures, while trained staff handle clinic operations so veterinarians can focus on care. Petco provides monthly updates about clinic news, policies, and products, as well as a 15% discount on Petco products and services. Vetco Vaccination Clinics provide basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement; they do not provide surgery, emergency care, or illness care. Clinics are primarily located inside Petco stores, with some operating from advanced mobile van units. Vetco Total Care hospitals provide preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. These hospitals have digital dental X-rays, Butterfly IQ+ Vet ultrasound imaging, and surgery suites with heated hydraulic tables and full anesthesia monitoring. Hospital shifts do not include overnight or emergency on-call work. Washington state bid rates average $122.00–$153.00 per hour; shift rates may vary by clinic location and shift duration.
