About The Position
Petco Veterinary Services offers relief veterinarians the opportunity to work in Vetco Vaccination Clinics and Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospitals. The role provides flexible online scheduling with weekday and weekend shifts, no minimum or maximum shift requirements, and the ability to set a rate for each shift. Veterinarians may continue practice activities outside Petco shifts, with no agency fees. The appointment-based model helps manage patient flow and supports timely departures. Trained staff handle clinic operations so veterinarians can focus on patient care. Vetco Vaccination Clinics provide basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement; they do not provide surgery, emergency, or illness care. Vetco Total Care hospitals provide preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. These hospitals have digital dental X-rays, Butterfly IQ+ Vet ultrasound imaging, and surgery suites with heated hydraulic tables and full anesthesia monitoring. Hospital shifts do not include overnight or emergency on-call duties. The position also includes access to a monthly newsletter with clinic news, policy updates, and product announcements, plus a 15% discount on Petco products and services. Minnesota state bid rates average $134.00–$167.00 per hour; shift rates may vary by clinic location and shift duration.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and a state license in good standing.
- Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all shift functions, including blood draws and vaccine administration.
- DEA registration in good standing for relief shifts at full-service Vetco Total Care hospitals.
- Professional liability insurance and a license defense policy.
- Compliance with all local, state, and federal mandates.
Responsibilities
- Provide veterinary care during relief shifts at Vetco Vaccination Clinics or Vetco Total Care hospitals.
- At Vaccination Clinics, perform basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement.
- At Total Care hospitals, provide services that may include preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures.
- Comply with applicable local, state, and federal mandates.
