About The Position
Petco Veterinary Services offers relief veterinarians shifts in Vetco Vaccination Clinics and Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospitals. The role provides flexible online scheduling with no minimum or maximum shift requirements, a range of weekday and weekend hours, and the ability to set a rate for each shift. Veterinarians may continue practice activities outside their Petco shifts, with no agency fees. The appointment-based model helps manage patient flow and supports leaving on time. Trained staff handle clinic operations so veterinarians can focus on patient care. Vetco Vaccination Clinics provide basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement; they do not provide surgery, emergency, or illness care. Vetco Total Care hospitals provide preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. Hospital relief shifts do not include overnight or emergency on-call shifts. The role also includes access to monthly clinic updates and a 15% discount on Petco products and services.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
- State veterinary license in good standing.
- Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all shift functions, including blood draws and vaccine administration.
- DEA registration in good standing for relief shifts at full-service Vetco Total Care hospitals.
- Ability to provide professional liability insurance and a license defense policy.
- Compliance with all local, state, and federal mandates.
Responsibilities
- Provide veterinary care during relief shifts at Vetco Vaccination Clinics or Vetco Total Care hospitals.
- At vaccination clinics, provide basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement, as applicable to the shift.
- At full-service hospitals, provide services that may include preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures, as applicable to the shift.
- Perform shift functions in compliance with local, state, and federal mandates.
