Petco Veterinary Services offers relief veterinarians work in Vetco Vaccination Clinics and Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospitals. The position provides flexible online scheduling, with no minimum or maximum number of shifts required and weekday and weekend shifts available. Veterinarians set their own rate for each shift and may continue practice activities outside their Petco shifts, with no agency fees. An appointment-based model helps manage patient flow, and trained staff handle operations so veterinarians can focus on patient care. Vetco Vaccination Clinics provide basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement. They do not provide surgery, emergency, or illness care. Locations are primarily inside Petco stores, with some operating from mobile van units. Vetco Total Care hospitals provide preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. These hospitals have digital dental X-rays, Butterfly IQ+ Vet ultrasound imaging, and equipped surgery suites. Hospital staff are licensed and trained, and there are no overnight or emergency on-call shifts. Relief veterinarians must hold a state veterinary license in good standing and have the state-specific licenses needed to perform the functions of their shifts. Full-service Vetco Total Care hospital shifts also require a DEA registration in good standing. Veterinarians must provide professional liability insurance and a license defense policy and comply with applicable local, state, and federal requirements.
