About The Position

This role is responsible for safely and economically producing quality products for SGI customers while ensuring the safe, reliable operation of plant equipment and mechanical systems. The Relief Supervisor will act as a role model for safety, driving a continuous improvement culture within their work group. This position involves leading, managing, and developing the work skills of employees, managing costs effectively, and leading special projects. Ensuring safety, quality, production, and housekeeping standards are met at all times is crucial. The role requires acquiring and demonstrating thorough knowledge of MSHA standards, utilizing good organizational and time management skills, and leading assigned personnel to meet or exceed goals. Teamwork, clear understanding of product specifications and processes, effective communication, and proficient computer skills are essential.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) /GED Equivalent
  • One (1) year of general understanding of the Plant process, such as Quarry, Mill, Color Plant, and Load out.
  • One (1) year knowledge of MSHA standards.
  • Ability to perform a variety of craft management duties in connection with installation and maintenance of a wide variety of equipment.
  • Ability to perform data entry and maintain computer files.
  • Safety of others when repairing or leading.
  • Keeping equipment in operation during scheduled production hours.
  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment and systems in a mining/manufacturing operation.
  • Evaluate planned methods and procedures used on a wide variety of jobs.
  • Diagnose problems with equipment and decide on corrective actions and resource allocation.
  • Use all types of mechanical hand tools.
  • Use personal computer keyboard.
  • Fill out requisition forms.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong relationship building and customer service skills.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without need for employer-sponsored visa (work permit).

  • Lead and manage assigned production and/or maintenance personnel to safely meet/exceed all established goals and/or objectives.

  • Know and understand all product specifications.
  • Clearly understand the process and equipment locations.
  • Accurately and timely preparation of required reports and maintaining accurate data and records as required.
  • Schedule/plan manpower and/or production schedules.
  • Notification of downtime to management with clear/detailed explanation of issues as required.
  • Write clearly defined work orders and develop SOPs for department.
