About The Position

Under the supervision of the Supportive Services Coordinator, the Family Worker will provide Community Living Supports and Respite Care for youth with serious emotional disturbance (SED) diagnosis who are receiving services in the behavioral health system. The FSW will act as a member of the treatment team by working with youth up to age 18 in both family homes and within the tri-county community. Providers use modeling, as well as teaching directly with structure, consistency and routine and allow for practice of skills with reminders and prompts of behavior expectations followed up by reinforcing with incentives and rewards. Transportation of youth consumers in your personal vehicle within the tri-county area. The FSW should possess a strong desire to help others with empathy, patience, understanding, enthusiasm and dedication. They should exhibit characteristics of trustworthiness, integrity, and honesty. The FSW should possess strong communication skills and be able to support and model emotion regulation, problem solving and conflict resolution skills. In addition, the FSW completes necessary documentation in a timely manner, including communicating effectively in both oral and written form, maintains accurate records, including using basic computer software, and performs other related duties as assigned. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies and procedures. Requirements

Minimum High School diploma or G.E.D.
Minimum of six months’ experience with emotionally impaired children and families.
Expectation of a varied schedule to include afternoon, evening, and weekend hours.
Ability to work cooperatively with others.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to re-certify in CPR/First Aide each year following employment.
Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license.
Access to reliable transportation for job related use.

Responsibilities

Provide Community Living Supports and Respite Care for youth with serious emotional disturbance (SED) diagnosis.

Facilitate participation in leisure and community activities.
Provide a break for youth and caregiver(s).
Use modeling, direct teaching with structure, consistency, and routine.
Allow for practice of skills with reminders and prompts of behavior expectations, followed by reinforcing with incentives and rewards.
Transport youth consumers in personal vehicle within the tri-county area.
Complete necessary documentation in a timely manner.
Communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
Maintain accurate records, including using basic computer software.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Carry out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies and procedures.
