About The Position

The Relief Cook works Saturdays and Sundays in a scratch-based kitchen to provide residents with a high-quality dining experience. The cook prepares breakfast, lunch, and dinner as scheduled, ensuring meals are safely cooked, visually appealing, and portioned to resident preferences. The role also involves building positive relationships with residents, guests, and team members to help create a warm, welcoming weekend atmosphere.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Ability to work every Saturday and Sunday for at least 8 hours per day.
Ability to read, speak, and understand basic English.
Ability to obtain required food handler permits within two weeks of the first day of employment.

Experience in kitchen preparation and cooking.

Responsibilities

Prepare and present a variety of proteins and vegetables using cooking methods such as broiling, grilling, frying, and sautéing, ensuring each plate looks appealing.
Contribute ideas during meetings, remain open to feedback, and maintain attentive coverage of the service line during meal hours.
Complete assigned opening and closing tasks, including morning setup and end-of-day shutdown, and share duties with teammates to keep the kitchen clean, safe, and organized.
Keep stations stocked and organized by maintaining food supplies, refreshing pantry items, and monitoring refrigeration as needed.
Clean work areas and equipment, and regularly check and record food, refrigeration, and dish-machine temperatures.
Build positive relationships with residents, guests, and team members.
