About The Position

The Reliability Tech C is responsible for maintaining and ensuring the capacity of equipment assets in assigned areas to achieve optimal efficiencies at the lowest reasonable cost. This role involves executing assigned tasks with a focus on safe work practices, high-quality, precision work, and adherence to standards. The technician will learn and grow in maintenance practices and equipment performance, understanding their impact on manufacturing processes and business objectives, and provide feedback on job assignment needs and improvement opportunities.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of safety practices including LOTO, Confined Space, PPE, PIT, Fall Protection, Hoisting & Rigging, and Hot Work.
  • Proficiency in calculator and computer applications for work order documentation and parts requisitioning.
  • Understanding of measurement units, techniques, and application of appropriate tools.
  • Math skills including arithmetic, application of formulas (area, volume), and conversion of measurement units.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics and make simple sketches.
  • Identification and proper use of tools, including selection of the right tool for the job.
  • Knowledge of proper storage and handling techniques for lubricants.
  • Understanding of power transmission component types, terms, operation, and maintenance.
  • Understanding of plumbing/piping conveyance system types, terms, operation, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of precision alignment techniques for indirect coupled elements, including laser alignment.
  • Basic troubleshooting of mechanical systems.
  • Understanding of common cause failure modes and correction of mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain manufacturing process and support equipment to highest, reasonable performance levels, including mechanical systems such as power transmission components (bearings, pulleys, shafts, couplings, sprockets, chains, belts, motors, gearboxes), conveyance systems (product/process related, steam, water, air, electricity, pumps, piping), and mechanical control systems (hydraulic & pneumatic elements).
  • Troubleshoot and execute repairs of equipment causing or contributing to safety, quality, downtime/productivity issues.
  • Communicate findings, potential causes, and correction steps to operations and maintenance leadership.
  • Execute proactive maintenance plans on assigned equipment, including Preventive Maintenance (PM), Predictive Maintenance (PdM) with data collection using PdM tools, and Condition Maintenance (CM) based on detailed job plans.
  • Execute assigned or scheduled work orders in support of projects and process improvement (PI) efforts.
  • Assist Reliability Tech B’s, A’s, and Leads in installation and removal of general mechanical systems.
