About The Position

This is a full-time, non-exempt position responsible for releasing information per departmental processing, answering telephones, directing calls, assisting customers, delivering/faxing charts, and pulling charts for authorized individuals. The role also involves scanning and attaching records, acting as an internal consultant and educator to hospital staff, and performing other assigned duties. The specialist must demonstrate commitment to organizational values, maintain effective communication, adhere to dress code, exhibit initiative, complete required training, maintain patient confidentiality, report to work punctually, contribute to performance improvement, ensure regulatory compliance, and follow safety procedures.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
  • Must complete an Employee Health meeting prior to starting employment.
  • Unencumbered License/Certification (if applicable).

  • Experience in a hospital, clinic, or physician’s office.
  • Medical terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Releases information per departmental processing.
  • Answers telephone, directs calls, and assists customers.
  • Delivers/faxes charts as requested.
  • Pulls charts for any/all authorized individuals/groups.
  • Scans and attaches records to charts.
  • Acts as an internal consultant and educator to hospital staff in areas of expertise as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Actively contributes to departmental and organization-wide performance improvement and continuous quality initiatives.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, maintaining adherence to departmental, hospital, state, and federal standards and policies.
  • Follows all infection control, safety, and risk management procedures to maintain a safe environment for patients, the public, and staff.
