About The Position

The Release Coordinator is a member of the Release Management team, responsible for Change Advisory Board (CAB) and Release Coordination. This role specifically may lead/participate in the CAB process, validate release deployment plans, and ensure all release deliverables are completed in line with release dates and deadlines. The Release Coordinator will manage release notes, approvals, communications, contact lists, and pre and post-release verification activities. This role facilitates release planning meetings, identifies and mitigates risks, defines and documents release recommendations, and maintains the release management schedule for assigned systems. The Release Coordinator also documents and communicates changes, identifies process improvements, maintains process documentation, creates release management standards, educates on release methodology, and collects feedback to modify or retire standards. Additionally, this role leads and coordinates Go-Live activities and works with engineers and project teams to understand impacts of branches and code merges.

Responsibilities

  • Lead/participate in the CAB process
  • Validate the release deployment plan is accurately prepared
  • Ensure all release deliverables have been completed inline with the release dates and deadlines
  • Manage release notes, approvals, communications, contact lists, and pre and post-release verification activities
  • Facilitate release planning meetings with key stakeholders to identify proper sequencing of release packages
  • Ensure that issues and risks are identified, understood, and dealt with in a manner that mitigates risk to scope and schedule
  • Participate in or facilitate the Change Advisory Board meetings and process
  • Define and document the release recommendation for each release/change to production, including scope, schedule, deliverables, and roll back plan
  • Review release recommendation with key stakeholders
  • Oversee release decisions and processes in terms of big picture/cross-departmental impacts
  • Maintain release management schedule for specific (or assigned) system(s)
  • Document and communicate all changes for a release in release notes
  • Identify opportunities to make tactical improvements to the release management process
  • Maintain documentation of all processes
  • Create release management standards to be followed
  • Educate on the release methodology and strategy
  • Collect feedback from users of release management standards and identify the need to modify or retire a standard
  • Lead and coordinate the Go-Live activities including the execution of deployment plans and checklist
  • Work with engineers and project teams to understand impacts of branches and code merges
