About The Position

The Patient Liaison reflects Northwestern Memorial’s mission, vision, and values; adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program; and complies with applicable policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory and accreditation standards. The role oversees the service experience for patients and supports optimal use of practice resources. The Patient Liaison builds relationships with patients and staff, provides necessary information, and advocates on patients’ behalf as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least 2 years of previous healthcare experience.
• Experience in a customer service role.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Previous experience with an electronic medical record system.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Manage schedules to make effective use of providers, rooms, and equipment.
• Maintain schedules, including opening and closing clinic templates, and coordinate care alternatives for patients affected by changes.
• Communicate with patients and/or clinical staff as needed to support patient compliance with prescribed treatment plans.
• Assist the Practice Manager with collecting and analyzing data related to physician productivity and resource utilization.
• Help resolve and prevent billing errors and denials, including obtaining pre-certifications or referrals as needed.
• Register patients and schedule or coordinate appointment scheduling.
• Provide patient education information and materials as needed.
• Maintain relationships with patients, internal providers and staff, external hospital departments, physician offices, and vendors.
• Respond to incoming inquiries from patients, providers, staff, and others about practice operations.
• Follow up with patients to support compliance with testing, prescriptions, and their plan of care.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
