Rehabilitation Counselor Supervisor / Counselor-In-Charge
About The Position
The Counselor-in-Charge (CIC) is located in the Boone VR/IL Unit in Watauga County. The role organizes and directs the daily supervision of Rehabilitation Counselors and assigned staff, oversees casework, and provides leadership within the unit. The CIC assists the Unit Manager in planning, implementing, and evaluating the technical and administrative components of a rehabilitation program consisting of multiple caseloads, third-party programs, and a limited number of specialized rehabilitation programs. The CIC supports unit performance through data-informed decision-making, promotes professional development, and fosters a collaborative team environment to help individuals with disabilities achieve their employment goals. The position also provides caseload coverage for the adult population.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling or counseling from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience as a rehabilitation counselor; or current Certified Rehabilitation Counselor certification from the Commission of Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) and two years of experience as a rehabilitation counselor; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Successful completion of the agency requirements for independent counselor status.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct case management supervision to Rehabilitation Counselors and support staff delivering client services needed to complete rehabilitation plans for employment.
- Perform administrative management tasks, including casework approvals to ensure quality service delivery in the assigned coverage area, budget development, and performance management.
- Provide and schedule staff development training, consultations, and action plans to enhance staff and program performance.
- Provide assigned caseload coverage and assist with coverage for vacant caseloads.
- Foster collaborative relationships with community and partner agencies and other service partners to enhance employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
