About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Director of Rehabilitation Services, is responsible for the direction, supervision and coordination of Physical and Occupational Therapy services/staff. Provides direct patient care as necessary.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Occupational Therapy; or BS, MS or DPT in Physical Therapy; or MS in Speech Language Pathology from accredited school required.
  • Five (5) years of therapy experience, with at least three (3) years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Current MA license in PT or OT or SLP - Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist or Speech Language Pathology
  • BLS - Basic Life Support
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) (Including courses offered through SSH)
  • INSTRUCTOR- Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) (Including courses offered through SSH)
  • Occupational Therapist - Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) - Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS)
  • Physical Therapist - Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) - Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS)
  • Speech Language Pathologist - Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) - Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS)

Nice To Haves

  • at least three (3) years of supervisory experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversees daily operations of the Rehab Department in the manager's respective area
  • Assists in development, implementation, and evaluation of therapy programs which are consistent with the Health System’s mission and the department’s goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrates accountability for the quality of clinical services provided, as evidenced by accurate completion of documentation and charge capture.
  • Collaborates with other departments to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Provides direct care to patients when necessary.
  • Demonstrates personal professional development.
  • Promotes the on-going education of rehabilitation staff as well as other healthcare providers.
  • Works cooperatively with fellow employees to identify real/potential problems and to promote solutions.
  • Is responsible for department’s operational excellence; assures department delivers quality services in accordance with the Health System and professional standards.
  • Works in collaboration with human resources to promote positive employee relations.
  • Is responsible for the fiscal management of specific area(s) within the department and assures proper utilization of organization’s financial resources.
  • Effectively communicates departmental, organization and industry information to staff.
  • Fosters a “Culture of Safety” through personal ownership and commitment to a safe environment.
  • Willing and able to learn and utilize any and all new technologies as it relates to his/her role in the organization.
  • Uses technological advances to effectively and efficiently communicate information.
  • Responsible for an appropriate level of understanding of the Health System’s Electronic Medical Record as it relates to the management of the department(s).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrates willingness to identify and/or assume activities relative to the developmental needs of the department and Health System.
  • Uses Time Efficiently to complete assigned work within an appropriate time frame.
  • Monitors/maintains compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and Hospital policy for Joint Commission Standards.
  • Meets Joint Commission and other regulatory agency requirements as evidenced by review.
