About The Position

This position requires a thorough knowledge of the compliance and liability provisions of the Workers’ Compensation Law, workers’ compensation compliance rules and procedures (s. 440.02, 440.05, 440.10, 440.107, 440.38 F.S. and 69L-6 F.A.C.). The incumbent of this position is required to have access to the Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) SunTax data. As such, a Level 2 background check is required every five (5) years. The incumbent of this position is also required to have access to the FL Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, Driver and Vehicle Information Database (DAVID) system. Conducts a review of employer business records submitted for penalty calculations to ensure completeness based on the served Business Records Request (BRR). and, if applicable, review documentation for the application of credit to be applied to the noncompliance penalty by the Penalty Audit Section. Provides education and information on workers’ compensation insurance law, rules, regulations, and internal policies and procedures to internal and external customers. Receives and validates actual noncompliance penalty payments submitted by employers. Processes payments utilizing district check reader equipment and track payment information using Excel. Reconciles payments processed through the check reader with the Coverage and Compliance Automated System (CCAS) and provides monthly reports to district management, Investigations Manager and Bureau Chief. Accurately documents check reader info per payments in CCAS narratives. Examines Notices of Elections to be Exempt (exemption applications) to determine if exemption from workers’ compensation insurance qualifications is met. Reviews, processes, and analyzes exemption applications (utilizing DAVID system, Div. of Corp., and DBPR) to determine if applicants meet the qualifications for issuance of a workers’ compensation exemption by entering data into the Coverage and Compliance Automated System (CCAS). Identifies deficiencies or incomplete information contained in the exemption application and issues a deficiency notice to the applicant. Organizes, scans and upload employer payroll records and enforcement documents into the Automated Image Tracking System and makes narrative entries pertinent to the case. Maintains a working knowledge of CCAS and Chapter 440, F.S. and all administrative rules pertaining to workers’ compensation exemption process. Meets with walk-in customers or via telephone or email to respond to questions, complaints, or concerns regarding various aspects of workers’ compensation insurance. Researches and retrieves information from CCAS to resolve insurance policy and/or exemption discrepancies and/or assist customers. Ensures accuracy of insurance policy and/or exemption from workers’ compensation insurance data is maintained in CCAS. Consults with city, county, and state officials and applicants regarding their respective license status and license requirements. Requirements

  • Two (2) years of equivalent work experience in administrative and/or data/clerical, reviewing applications, documents, or requests received through an online system are required.
  • Knowledge of the methods for organizing and presenting data

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual with the ability to fluently speak and write Spanish and English.
