About The Position

This position applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information. The Regulatory and Reimbursement Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of Medicare and other governmental payment policies, compliance, and reporting for all hospital and clinic entities across the Mercy Health System. This role involves analyzing internal and external data, performing research on governmental payer rules and regulations, and managing data support for annual cost report submissions to ensure accurate reimbursements. The coordinator will also work with external consultants and governmental auditors, prepare budgets for multiple entities, and perform pro forma financial analyses for new or changed services. Additionally, the position analyzes complex financial processes and recommends improvements to enhance system financial performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting from a four-year college or university or a master's degree in a related field.
  • Five to ten years of experience, with four of those years in health care finance.
  • High level of Medicare experience, including preparation of Medicare/Medicaid cost reports.
  • Experience in accounting and budgeting of patient revenue.
  • Knowledge of Medicare Medicaid regulations.
  • Experience in the analysis, modeling, and reporting of other third-party payers.
  • Computer experience.
  • Strong accuracy.
  • Excellent interpretive/analytical skills.
  • Ability to use computer, keyboard, and other office equipment.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordination of Medicare and other governmental payment policies, compliance, and reporting for all hospital and clinic entities across the Mercy Health System.
  • Analysis of internal and external data and information requests.
  • Research relative to Medicare and other governmental payer rules and regulations.
  • Management and data support for the annual Medicare/Medicaid/BlueCross cost report submission to ensure accurate, timely, and proper reimbursements.
  • Working with external consultants and governmental auditors on a routine basis to provide supporting information.
  • Working with outside consultants to complete accurate tax related documents.
  • Preparing budgets for multiple entities and responding to questions from managers on budget issues and complex projects.
  • Preparing pro forma financial analyses of new or changed services within the system as needed.
  • Analyzing complex financial processes and recommending opportunities to improve system financial performance.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
