About The Position

The Monitoring & Research Department of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (the District) is seeking an intern to assist in identifying facilities that may be subject to Federal Categorical Pretreatment Standards or other significant wastewater discharges that could affect the MWRD’s NPDES permit. Through this work, the intern will gain familiarity with water regulations and compliance requirements, while developing skills in communication, classification, and organizational practices.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Computer Skills (Excel, Outlook, and Word specifically)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • An interest in Environmental Science
  • Currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program in an accredited college or university and will be enrolled in the 2026/2027 school year.
  • Permanent residency within the territorial boundaries of the MWRD (students may attend school outside the territorial boundaries).
  • Must be a citizen or national of the United States, or an individual who is otherwise legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Applicants must be a current graduate or undergraduate student seeking a degree in environmental science and or engineering.
