About The Position

The Faculty of Social Sciences, School of Political Studies is seeking a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach Modern Political Thought II (POL3102, Section F00) during the Fall 2026 semester. This course explores the origins and development of later modern political thought from the 19th century onwards, covering topics such as socialism, liberalism, Marxism, decolonialism, feminism, postmodernism, and Indigenous perspectives. It is recommended that students have completed POL 2107 and POL 2108 prior to enrolling. The course will be delivered online in a scheduled, synchronous format with live instruction. The University offers training in online course delivery, and the teaching method may be adjusted due to public health measures or other reasons. The hiring process will adhere to the current APTPUO collective agreements.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or Ph.D. coursework in the field of political thought.
  • Teaching experience in the field.
  • Competence in a second language (active).
  • Successful completion of all mandatory legislated training.
  • Ability to work within the framework of the APTPUO collective agreements.
  • All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of POL 2107 and POL 2108 is recommended for students.
