About The Position

This posting is for a Regular Part-Time Professor position in Bioethics (PHI2796, Section B00) for the Fall 2026 semester at the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Arts, Department of Philosophy. The course will cover ethical issues in medical research and healthcare, including human and animal experimentation, rights and duties of healthcare professionals and patients, euthanasia, abortion, assisted reproduction techniques, and genetic screening. It will also examine the role of ethical theories and concepts in resolving these issues. The course is taught in French and is expected to have an enrolment of 200 students. The mode of instruction is in-person, with classes scheduled on Mondays from 8:30 AM to 9:50 AM and Thursdays from 10:00 AM to 11:20 AM.

Requirements

Doctorate in Philosophy.
Experience teaching philosophy at the university level.
Course syllabus must be approved by the undergraduate program director of the Department of Philosophy.
