About The Position
This posting is for a Regular Part-Time Professor position in Bioethics (PHI2796-A00) for the Fall 2026 semester in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Ottawa. The course will cover ethical problems in medical research and healthcare, including human and animal experimentation, rights and duties of healthcare professionals and patients, euthanasia, abortion, assisted reproduction techniques, genetic screening, and priorities in funding and grants. It will also examine the role of ethical theories and concepts in resolving these issues. The course is taught in French and is expected to have an enrolment of 200 students. The mode of instruction is in-person.
Requirements
- Doctorate in Philosophy.
- Experience teaching philosophy at the university level.
- Course plan must be approved by the undergraduate studies director of the philosophy department.
Responsibilities
- Teach Bioethics course (PHI2796-A00)
- Develop and obtain approval for a course plan from the undergraduate studies director of the philosophy department.
- Conduct classes according to the specified schedule: Monday 10:00 - 11:20 and Wednesday 8:30 - 9:50.
