About The Position

The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Ottawa is seeking a Regular Part-Time Professor for the course GNG1103 A: Engineering Design during the Fall 2026 semester. This course is a hands-on, team-based introduction to engineering design for engineers and computer scientists. Topics covered include design thinking, the engineering design process, prototyping, engineering economics, safety, ethics, and project management. The expected enrollment is 72 students, and the course is worth 3 credits. The language of instruction is English.

Requirements

Expertise in hands-on, open-ended engineering design from industry or academia.
Must be a registered engineer in one of the provinces of Canada.
PhD will be considered first.
An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.
Must successfully complete all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.

Competence in a second language (active).

Responsibilities

Teach the Engineering Design course (GNG1103 A) for the Fall 2026 semester.
Cover topics including design thinking, engineering design process, prototyping, engineering economics, safety, ethics, and project management.
