About The Position

The Faculty of Social Sciences, School of Psychology at the University of Ottawa is seeking a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach the Social Development of the Child course (PSY3135, Section A00) during the Fall 2026 semester. This course will study children's social relationships and interactions from infancy to puberty, examining the influence of family, home, school, peers, and society on their development. The course will also cover current research in the field. The course is offered in person and requires competence in English as the language of instruction, with passive competence in a second language.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Psychology
  • Knowledge about the social development of the child
  • Successful completion of all mandatory legislated training.
  • Competence in English (language of instruction).

Responsibilities

  • Teach the Social Development of the Child course (PSY3135, Section A00).
  • Maintain the assigned mode of course delivery (in-person).
  • Inform the School of Psychology Secretariat if a class needs to be cancelled.
  • Arrange for a suitable replacement instructor if aware in advance of an upcoming absence.
